SERVICE NSW Check in

ICYMI As of 1 January 2021, all hospitality venues and hairdressing salons must use the NSW Government QR code system to keep a record of the name, contact number and entry time for all staff, customers and contractors.

To receive your QR Code, you will need to REGISTER YOUR BUSINESS as COVID Safe.

For some types of businesses and organisations, it is mandatory to register as COVID Safe. Currently, these businesses include:

  • gyms
  • hairdressers
  • hospitality venues (restaurants, cafes, pubs, clubs, small bars, cellar doors, breweries, distilleries, karaoke bars and casinos)
  • funeral homes
  • places of public worship.

 

All other businesses and organisations are encouraged to register as COVID Safe to show their customers and visitors that they are keeping up the highest standards to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

New design to represent the three Aboriginal Nations of the Clarence Valley

An innovative project to create a contemporary design that represents the three Aboriginal nations of the Clarence Valley has today been announced by Clarence Valley Council and the National Aboriginal Design Agency (NADA), the commercial arm of Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance.

Clarence Valley Council General Manager Ashley Lindsay said the artwork aims to acknowledge and deepen the connection between the First Nations of the Clarence Valley – the Yaegl, Gumbaynggirr, Bundjalung and Council.

“There are some incredibly talented First Nations artists living in the Clarence Valley and we hope that by working together with the three Nations we will be able to create something that is both beautiful and also unique to our region.”

Councillors vote to award Grafton administration building contract

The refurbishment of the Clarence Valley Council Administration building in Prince Street, Grafton is set to commence in December after Councillors voted to proceed with the contract.

Mayor Cr Jim Simmons welcomed the decisive vote and affirmed that the upgrade of the building, originally constructed in the late 1960s, was essential to ensure a safe, accessible and energy efficient building fit for the 21st century.

DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION PACK CREATED BY PRIVATE COMPANY NOT ENDORSED BY COUNCIL

Council has received a number of calls from local businesses about advertising packages in the self-styled “Clarence Valley Region Development Application” pack.

Adam Cameron, Manager Environment, Development & Strategic Planning reiterated that the pack and associated advertising packages have been developed by a commercial entity.

“We are not here to tell local businesses where they should advertise, we just wanted local businesses to be aware that this Development Application pack is not sponsored or in anyway endorsed by us.”

“It seems that a printing business based in the Gold Coast is collecting the details of people who lodge Development Applications from publicly available information on websites and then sending them a folder with the local ads.”

“Whilst there is nothing improper with this activity, as we have received questions about our perceived association with it, we wanted to clarify that the pack has nothing to do with Council,” Mr Cameron added.

Councils have a legal obligation to publish names of address of anyone submitting a Development Application which are freely available to any person or organisation on Council websites.

WORKS START ON CARRS DRIVE ROUNDABOUT

What’s Happening?

Treelands Drive Roundabout is almost finished and we are ready to start the new Carrs Drive roundabout. Work will start in early November and be finished by March 2021.

What to expect – Carrs Drive: 

  • Two-way access on Yamba Road will remain throughout the works.
  • Closure of access to and from Carrs Drive from Yamba Road for approximately 6 weeks
  • Traffic control
  • Earthworks and drainage
  • Temporary pavement and line marking

Pedestrians should follow signage to ensure they keep clear of construction works.

Traffic Changes – Carrs Drive:

  • Access to and from Carrs Drive onto Yamba Road will be closed from early November for about 6 weeks.
  • During the closure, access to Carrs Drive, O’Gradys Lane, Miles Street and Sullivans Road will be via Norfolk Road and Harold Tory Drive.

What about Christmas?

  • Construction work will not take place between Thursday 24 December 2020 & Monday 11 January 2021.
  • Carrs Drive access to and from Yamba Road will be available for this period.

What should you do?

  • Plan ahead and allow extra time

The Statement of Attainment in Digital Literacy is a fully subsidised course* (*for eligible applicants) being offered at the TAFE NSW Yamba Connected Learning Centre commencing 23 October 2020. for an 8-week duration.

This course covers a range of different Digital skills from how to use every day digital devices, to ensuring that your internet searching is safe and secure while online and how to Operate application software packages on a digital device.
